Drainage pipes are used in the system of removing effluent from utilities to the sewer or septic tank. They are also used in the sewer system in our homes where they are used in between the inspection chambers. The system must be able to clean itself without blockage. Appropriate gradients are used to accomplish this. Drain lines mostly comprise of UPVC tubing. It is important to adequately test the laid system before its commissioning. Fix pegs at the base of each trench to set the required levels.
The drainage pipes should never be laid down haphazardly, they are to be put in a straight line. The pipes should be connected with sockets leading uphill or in the direction of the building. The sewer system should be placed on a solid, smooth and flat ground. Male and female sockets should be used to join the pipes using a good adhesive. Make sure that you follow all the instructions for the adhesive, as specified by the manufacturer. The drainpipe should go completely into the wall’s thickness as they are being joined to the inspection chambers. Keep debris off the pipes.
Inspect and scrutinise the drainage pipes while laying them. This is important to make sure that there is no leakage. Make certain that the hooks of the sockets are firmly fixed in the foundation. They should also be kept as short as possible. The inlet and outlet points must be evened out and marked appropriately. After fixing all the joints properly, the system then needs to be wrapped up with soil. Connect to the sewer or septic tank. The drainage system is now ready once you connect to the utilities.
